Festival of Confolens

This festival takes place every August in Confolens and brings cultural acts from all over the world to paticipate alongside French shows. Activities go on all day with a gala every evening. Fireworks over the river follow the event. Beautiful.

Chocolatier at Trois Palis (50km)

There is a small, privately owned chocolatier in Trois Palis, just outside Angouleme, Poitou-Charentes. One of the staff will take you on a guided tour to show how all the different types of chocolate, nougat and sugar-based confectionery is made. Sampling is encouraged! There is a short video to supplement the tour. Great chocolate! There is a shop adjacent to the factory where you can buy goodies to take away. There is no entrance fee and parking is available in the town square nearby. Well sign-posted from the Angouleme-Cognac road.

Ferme de Javernac (8km)

This dairy farm is open to the public and produces organic yogurts, white cheese and creme fraiche. Yum! Using traditional methods and their herd of 140 cows in 200 hectares this farm shop is well worth a visit for organic, traditionally made dairy products.

"Fire and Earth" Brigeuil (10 km)

This is a traditional ceramics and pottery maker. The local area is famous for its clay (it hosts the largest tile factory in Europe at Roumazieres-Loubert). This traditional artisan makes very attractive pottery using local materials and old methods. Visit and sales possible at his workshop. Commissioned work possible.
